The Aledo varsity team tennis squad advanced to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs with an 11-0 thumping of Fort Worth North Side Tuesday on the Bearcats’ home courts.
With the victory, Aledo (13-2) moved on to the area round and was facing Grapevine at press time at the Arlington Tennis Center.
Scores against North Side were:
Boys doubles - Line 1, Hogan Posey/Scott Mason, 6-0, 6-0; Line 2, Ian Leslie/Craig Mason, 6-0, 6-0. Line 3 did not play, as North Side did not have enough players.
Girls doubles - Line 1, Kenley Germany/Bryanna Orr, 6-0, 6-0; Line 2, Paige Federman/Elli Kate Bussmeir, 6-0, 6-0; Line 3, Eleanor Jack/Patrice Loftin, 6-0, 6-0.
Mixed doubles - Will Beyer/Natalie Nawrocki, 6-2, 6-1.
Boys singles - Line 2, S. Mason, 6-0, 6-0; Line 3, Posey won 6-0, 6-0.
Girls singles - Line 2, Bussmeir, 6-0, 6-0.
Even though the team had reached the required 10 wins, Line 1 Orr finished her match, winning 6-1. No other singles matches were required for the win.
In all, Aledo did not lose a set and won 108 of the 111 games played.
