While it wasn’t an extra mile, never let it be said Aledo cross country teams won’t go a little more distance if called upon — and that was the case at the Texas A&M Invitational this past weekend.

“While the course is roughly 200 meters longer than a 5k, all runners did very well,” Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton said. “Both races featured roughly 500 runners and more than 65 teams in the race.”

The Ladycats placed second, only four points out of the top spot. The Bearcats finished 10th.

Jack Fink of the Bearcats had the top individual finish, placing eighth with a time of 16 minutes, 6 seconds. The Ladycats were led by Molly Garrison, who was 11th individually with a time of 18:56.5.

Also for the Ladycats:  Mykel Murry, 13, 18:57.5; Micah Neal, 15th, 19:01.9; Madison Larsen, 37th, 19:57.7; Sophia Brandenburg, 44th, 20:14.5; Mayden Mitchell, 88th, 21:34.5; Hadleigh Walton, 126th, 22:13.2.

Also for the Bearcats: Tyler Connelly, 35th, 16:34.1; Ian Robbins, 123rd, 17:26.8; Luke Schabel, 131st, 17:33.3; Dominick Barrera, 188th, 18:03.2; Thatcher Pettit, 217th, 18:14.2; Reed Murray, 342nd, 19:12.7.
