The 2024 football season got off to a rough start for the Trinity Christian Eagles on Friday, Aug. 30 as they fell 34-12 at Muenster Sacred Heart.

Eagles quarterback Canaan Kazkowski completed seven of 18 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. Two of his completions went to Ezra Burk for 79 yards and a score.

Kaznowski also ran for a 60-yard touchdown, finishing with eight carries for 76 yards. Pearson Kuykendall added 32 yards on nine carries, while Owen Coats added 26 yards on a couple of rushes.

On the defensive side, Max Johnson registered a game-high 13 tackles and forced a fumble, while Kadin James had nine tackles, Matthew Nestor had, Hank Nash recorded seven and Coates had five with a sack. Three of Rhyder Dawson’s four tackles were for a loss.

“We had a few TDs called back due to penalties that just led to stalled out drives and punts. Very physical game, but our team showed great resilience against a strong opponent,” Eagles coach Cody McKenzie said. “Every setback is an opportunity to grow and understand our strengths and areas for improvement.”

The Eagles will play their home opener at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 against Waco Live Oak Classical. The Falcons defeated Conroe Covenant Classical 20-6 at home on Aug. 30.

The Falcons, who moved up to Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 11-man ball this season, were a perennial power at the TAPPS six-man level, winning a state championship in 2021.
