Runners from Aledo and Weatherford squared off against some of the best the nation has to offer this past weekend, leaving the state to do so. The Bearcats/Ladycats competed in the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, while the Kangaroos/Lady Roos were at the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

‘All athletes performed really well. It was a great day to run,” Aledo coach Mike Pinkerton said. “It was dry, with temperatures in the low 60s. Couldn’t ask for better conditions. The kids made the most of it, with many posting season bests.

“It was a great trip, made even better with many college/university coaches inquiring about our athletes.”

Aledo will next compete in the District 5-5A Meet at Central Park in White Settlement on Friday, Oct. 11. Weatherford will compete in the District 3-6A Meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
